This calendar lists all official events of the department, including deadlines and due dates for various
academic requirements.
Gerry Russo maintains the departmental calendar. To schedule an event within the department, either see her in person in the departmental office or send the information to her at grusso@memphis.edu. In most cases you will also need to ask her to reserve the space for the event with the University Event Calendar (R25).

A printed version of the departmental calendar is routinely posted on the bulletin board near 223 Mitchell. Don’t miss any deadlines or events — consult it often. If it’s more convenient, you can always consult the calendar online. |

There is only one official calendar of the Department of History (see above) — and if it’s not on that calendar, it’s not official. There are several calendars, however, that supplement it and give additional information:
In addition to the official calendar, the department maintains
a supplementary but unofficial list of events that
often gives fuller information about events on the official calendar. In addition, it lists events that are not on that
calendar but which are of interest to historians.
The Office of the Registrar has two sets of calendars that deal with academic matters:
Academic year calendars
mark the major activity dates (class start/end dates,
exam dates, and commencement) of each term and its parts. Each academic year
begins with the Fall term and ends at the conclusion of the Summer term.
Semester calendars give more
detail than the academic year calendars. For each semester within the academic year they give dates and
deadlines, final examination schedules, and graduation filing deadlines.
The University Events Calendar (R25) has a
mind-boggling number of filters to display events by date, location, type of event, and sponsor. In theory,
any event that uses any space at the university must be scheduled through the R25 system. In practice, some spaces
are under the direct control of a department and do not have go be scheduled through R25 (for the Department of History, one such
space is room 100-B of Mitchell Hall). This means that if you want to schedule an event in the Department of History, you must at least
arrange with the departmental office to have it listed on the official calendar of the department, and in most cases you must
also arrange with the departmental office to have it listed on R25.
