  • The Department of History has outlined its policy in the document Policy about academic misconduct. This policy is based on the University’s documents  Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities (Student Handbook) and Code of Student Conduct — Academic Dishonesty
  • Implementing the departmental Policy about Academic Misconduct contains statements about academic integrity that should be included in the syllabus of every class offered within the Department of History
  • An essay on Advice about plagiarism and using sources gives students guidance on how to avoid plagiarism by careful composition and documentation
  • Links on plagiarism will acquaint both students and faculty with the issues involved in plagiarism
  • The University subscribes to a service from TurnItIn.com, which may be used to check the originality or unoriginality of students’ written work — our page of information about TurnItIn.com tells you about the service and how to use it
• The department maintains its own schedule of current History classes, with links to syllabi (this is in addition to the official class listings from the Registrar’s Office)
• The department issues “mini-catalogs” for the Fall and Spring semesters (but not for the Summer Sessions) that describe the upcoming offerings in detail, often including book lists and other specific requirements

• Instructional videos
  • The department has a collection of instructional videos which may be checked out by faculty, staff, and teaching assistants or graduate assistants
  • The Office of Extended Programs holds digital rights to a number of videos that are pertinent to courses in history. There is a narrative description of the videos and also a database listing of the videos.. You may have any of these videos added to your courses in eCourseware by sending an e-mail message to Shelia Owens, Coordinator of Extended Programs, at sowens@memphis.edu.
  • The Tennessee Board of Regents has rights to streaming videos from Films Media Group. If you wish to use these videos in your classes, send an e-mail message to Shelia Owens, Coordinator of Extended Programs, at sowens@memphis.edu.

• For upcoming events of interest to historians, consult the official departmental calendar or the unofficial list of events
• For news about the Department, consult History happenings
• The Department publishes a newsletter several times each year, and it is placed online in both HTML and PDF versions
• The departmental blog, Memphis historians on the go, features news and photographs from those who are travelling for research or pleasure
• In addition to the official departmental Web pages, many people in the Department maintain personal Web pages, not all of which are officially linked through the departmental pages
  • The list of linked pages contains the pages of persons and organizations who have chosen to have their pages officially linked
  • The document on creating Web pages tells you how you may have your own pages
