History 4620/6620: Colonial America

Fall 2008

Suggested Background Readings (optional)

As noted in the Course Requirements there are no required textbooks or supplementary readings. If you feel the need for more factual material than is being provided by the lectures or your class projects, you may read from several works that have been placed in the Reserve Room of McWherter Library. One is a standard textbook: David Hawke, The Colonial Experience. The other two are collections of documents: Jack P. Greene, Settlements to Society: 1584-1763, and Jack P. Greene, Colonies to Nation: 1763-1789. The readings suggested below are designed to parallel closely the material presented in the lectures.
